Biography:

In 2011 Jack Lugar was one of the first candidates to answer the call for new leadership in Washington. The attorney, real estate broker, and writer entered the race for Indiana’s new 5th Congressional District because of his deep commitment to serve his fellow Hoosiers. He is dedicated to serving the people of Indiana and returning the country to prosperity. Jack Lugar is an Everyday American who has deeply held Republican views but is not beholden to the political establishment. He firmly believes it is time for the Republican Party to grow the base by reaching out to the next generation.

Jack Lugar, not only grew up in Indianapolis, but he lives in Fishers and his kids go to the Hamilton Southeastern schools. After completing his master’s degree, Jack went to Los Angeles and worked in production, and eventually as a Sitcom Writer joining the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA). His writing was his commodity and with skill and determination he entered the top 5% of his field before deciding to go to law school. Jack chose to come back home to Indiana to raise his family and study the law in preparation of serving his country. The idea of serving his country was planted in Jack at a young age having been asked regularly about his relationship to Senator Lugar.

Indiana needs a leader who is not beholden to the political establishment but truly answers to the people. That is why when Jack Lugar was asked to run for Congress in July 2011, he answered the call for new representation. As the next Congressman for Indiana’s new 5th district, Jack Lugar will be focused on creating jobs, deficit reduction, energy independence, and defending freedom. Jack believes it is time we raise up a new generation of leaders who will return this country to prosperity.

Jack has always brought his principles, passion, and work ethic to his professional life and community. Currently an attorney with The Foster Group PLLC, Jack’s experience in representing businesses, government entities, and individuals has exposed him to many of the issues that Hoosiers struggle with on a daily basis.  This experience has deepened his commitment to loosening regulations on small businesses in order to help them grow and create jobs.  Jack has been fortunate enough to have his own successes in business, building and growing a successful real estate brokerage firm in Lugar Real Estate, LLC.

Prior to that he managed his writing career and was represented by The Gersh Agency in Los Angeles. Upon returning to his home state of Indiana, he studied at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and worked at the Indiana Attorney General’s Office.   He understands the need to create jobs, grow our economy, and provide affordable healthcare options.

Jack is an everyday American who is dedicated to reducing the size of our government and championing grassroots private sector projects to serve communities.  Jack currently sits on the institutional review board for Concentrics Research, overseeing the protection of human subjects in medical testing and on the board of the non-profit Henry’s Hope, which provides financial resources for children with life threatening illnesses. Strongly influenced by his father-in-laws commitment to providing for the homeless through the private sector shelter at The New York City Rescue Mission, he would like to place the power back into the hands of the people so that they can give back to their communities.

While Jack believes in, and is committed to, the responsibility of the private sector to provide solutions for many of this country’ challenges, he believes there are areas where the federal government can effectively partner with the private sector to better serve its citizens.  Along this line, Jack is committed to providing better resources for veterans through a program he will propose called the Veterans Introduction Program (VIP).  Through this program, businesses and community leaders will partner with the government to offer a 12 month re-introduction work program for our returning military by placing them with mentors and in businesses.

Jack graduated from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law with the distinction of being selected to the Order of the Barristers. He holds an M.A. in Media Management from Regent University, a B.A. in Communication Studies from Taylor University, attended North Central High School, and graduated from Heritage Christian School. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar and U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. He is also an active member of the American Bar Association and Indianapolis Bar Association. In addition, Jack possesses an active real estate broker’s license and is a member of the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors (MIBOR) and National Association of Realtors (NAR). He works with home owners and buyers and understands the importance of a stable economy and housing market.  Jack is also a member of the Writers Guild of America.

Jack has taught as an adjunct professor at Taylor University, his alma mater, on the topic of new media and the law, and offers public seminars focusing on story development and screenwriting.  In 2010 Jack published his first book, The Starving Artist’s Diet.

Jack and his wife of 20 years, Elisabeth, have three children; Callista, Ethan, and Conrad and are deeply committed to serving their community. He regularly volunteers time at his children’s schools; and has enjoyed the opportunity to coach his son’s basketball and hockey teams. In addition, they are active members of BridgeWay Community Church in Fishers, Indiana.
